Wellington Bicentenery: a Somerset Perspective

This coming Saturday, 9th May, Somerset Archaeological and Natural History Society (SANHS), in co-operation with the Museum and the National Trust, is holding a day of talks and walks in Wellington, concentrating on the local interest in the battle (eg how many Wellington and Somerset people were involved), the extent of the Duke of Wellington’s interest in the town, what the town was like in 1815 and of course the Monument. The day runs from 9.30am – 5pm at the Community Centre in White Hart Lane. Tickets are £5 (make your own lunch arrangements) available from the SANHS office (tel. 01823 272429 or email or on the door on the day.  In the afternoon, there is a choice of a walk round Wellington or a walk round the Wellington Monument.
